Prototyping of a system for recognizing daily life activities based on qualitative spatial positioning of objects used within an intelligent home using passive radio-identification

Intervention area

Smart home

Start date

January 1, 2015

End date

March 1, 2016

Keeping elderly (or cognitively impaired) people at home entails a number of risks that need to be controlled. Consequently, the need to develop effective assistive technologies to compensate for the cognitive and physical incapacities of these home-maintained people is becoming an urgent issue. This is why a number of scientists are working on the creation of new technologies based on the emerging concept of Ambient Intelligence (AIm), to enable semi-autonomous people to remain in their own homes safely for as long as possible. The main objective of the mandate proposed here is to develop a prototype ADL recognition system based on qualitative spatial positioning of objects used within the DOMUS intelligent habitat, using passive radio identification.
