Development of an innovative tool for screening the level of consciousness of non-responsive patients: implications for rehabilitation

Intervention area

Start date

End date

Emerging evidence demonstrates that over 40% of behaviourally unresponsive individuals are misdiagnosed and are considered to be in a state that justifies an attitude described as “therapeutic nihilism”. The goal of this project is to develop, validate, and implement a protocol identifying underlying levels of consciousness in behaviourally unresponsive individuals, as elicited through a language-processing task.
