Mobile and wireless camera system for increased telepresence in home telerehabilitation
Intervention area
Smart home
Start date
November 1, 2011
End date
December 1, 2012
Home telerehabilitation is based on the creation of a link (telepresence) between clients and clinicians. This telepresence is currently based on the use of video-conferencing systems with position-controlled cameras (rotation around XYZ axes). However, the positioning of such cameras remains fixed in the environment. It would be much more practical to allow customers to move the camera as needed to adapt to different assessment situations. The team would like to have at its disposal a proof-of-concept of a PTZ (pan-tilt-zoom) camera that is mobile (can be positioned and moved around the environment easily), autonomous (battery-powered) and wireless, integrated with a multisite videoconferencing (MVU) software platform, in order to carry out a pilot study at home and thus obtain preliminary data for a subsequent grant application.
