016A CartoExo
Mechanical pressure mapping platform for application in rehabilitation, telerehabilitation and mobile robotics
Intervention area
Mobility
Start date
January 1, 2012
End date
July 1, 2012
Characterizing and mapping forces and stresses in rehabilitation can become a major challenge. Compression stress mapping is a major issue in the development of robotic gripping tools. A pressure mapping tool would greatly facilitate the manipulation of irregular and fragile objects by a humanoid robot equipped with compliant grippers. The mandate is to establish the design and manufacturing conditions required for the application of carbon nanotube (CNT)-based compression sensor arrays, and to evaluate their potential under real-life conditions.
