Remote respiratory rate measurement from a thermal camera on a pan-tilt head
Intervention area

Start date
September 1, 2011
End date
August 1, 2013
During telerehabilitation sessions, there are often exercises (such as those on a stationary bike) for which it is necessary to measure vital parameters as well as exercise-specific information. The problem to be solved is to develop a remote, non-contact respiratory rate measurement technique using a thermal camera and a face-tracking algorithm, in a context of use on a stationary bike. The aim of the project is to demonstrate that it is possible to perceive respiratory rate without contact using a thermal camera, and not to develop a thermal camera.
