112B Ergocycle

Pedaling… in hospital!

Intervention area

Mobility

Start date

April 1, 2023

End date

January 1, 2024

Exercise is associated with numerous health benefits, even with patients who are acutely hospitalized (or with chronic treatment (e.g., hemodialysis). However, to successfully implement this type of intervention and test its impact, it is of paramount importance to develop adapted ergocycles that are precise, financially accessible and meet the clinical and scientific needs. The MR technology that was selected in the previous mandate seems very promising but needs to be further tested and characterized in this application. This mandate aims at continuing and optimizing the prototype realized in the mandate 112, notably by a complete mechanical redesign, the addition of a direct measurement of the torque and the integration of the crankset in a virtual environment. The objective of adding these additional functionalities is to improve the training experience for the users and to favour the adherence.
