213 ROBOREHAB-AAN in progress
Robotic upper limb rehabilitation using an adaptive “safety-aware” admittance control systemIntervention area
Smart home
Start date
May 1, 2026
End date
March 31, 2028
This project builds a safer “smart assist” mode for rehabilitation robots that help people with neuromuscular disorders in upper extremity re-educate and move their arm after. With the “Assist-As-Needed (AAN)” control system, the robot provides help only when needed, and back off when the person is doing well so users stay active instead of being carried by the machine. A built-in safety feature limits forces during contact to keep sessions comfortable and secure. A ready-to-use setup and software will be delivered upon completion of the project so clinicians and researchers can run safe robotic rehabilitation exercises.
