AI-Driven EMG-EEG Mapping to Enable Adaptive Non-Invasive Brain Stimulation in Motor Rehabilitation

Intervention area

Mobility

Start date

March 1, 2026

End date

June 30, 2027

This mandate aims to develop and evaluate AI-based models that enable continuous estimation of cortical motor states from EMG signals, even when non-invasive brain stimulation degrades direct EEG measurements. By learning EMG-EEG mappings under baseline conditions and validating their stability when stimulation is applied, the project addresses a key barrier to adaptive neurorehabilitation. The outcomes will lay the foundation for future closed-loop brain stimulation technologies for personalized motor rehabilitation.
