011 OdométrieFRM
Development and validation of a wireless odometry system for use with motorized wheelchairs
Intervention area
Mobility
Start date
September 1, 2011
End date
July 1, 2012
In order to evaluate the distance travelled (odometry) by motorized wheelchair users, the WIMU used by our research team since 2009 consists of a Hall-effect sensor with an attachment system specific to each wheelchair model (brackets have been designed and manufactured for each wheelchair model) and six magnets that must be glued to the wheel rims of each wheelchair under test. In this context, the aim of this mandate is to develop and validate a wireless odometer for the WIMU used with motorized wheelchairs.
