046 S2M
Kinematic assessment of the shoulder for rehabilitation monitoring: development of a clinical tool: Shoulder Mobility Monitoring (S2M)
Intervention area
Mobility
Start date
September 1, 2014
End date
March 1, 2016
Orthopaedic surgeons in Quebec need a tool for clinical assessment of shoulder kinematics, both for post-operative follow-up (rehabilitation during and after orthotic wear) and as an aid to diagnosis. The current tools available to clinicians are mainly physical tests and the measurement of planar range of motion using a goniometer. The aim of this mandate is to evaluate 3D shoulder kinematics using a device that is cost-effective (equipment, clinic time and treatment), accurate and provides repeatable measurements for monitoring the rehabilitation of patients with musculoskeletal disorders of the shoulder.
