Development of interactive software for walking rehabilitation using an exoskeleton

Intervention area

Mobility

Start date

October 1, 2015

End date

March 1, 2017

The general objective is to develop a virtual environment in which the patient sees himself moving forward via an avatar and must adapt his actions within the gait pattern imposed by the Lokomat according to events (e.g. stepping over a high or long obstacle, striking an object with his foot). The avatar’s movement is controlled in real time by the participant’s biomechanics, measured by the Lokomat’s sensors, which include goniometers at the hips and knees, torque sensors at these joints and force sensors for body weight support. The research module also provides information on the desired trajectory and cycle phases, which could be used to refine the virtual reality.
