048A EntrainVirtuelAVC
Development of a virtual training tool to reduce gait asymmetry following a stroke
Intervention area
Mobility
Start date
October 10, 2014
End date

The main problem is that the correction of asymmetry is resistant to current interventions. The project therefore proposes to develop a new approach aimed at reducing asymmetry, using a new stimulating technique for the patient, based on an emergent rehabilitation approach (error augmentation). The main objective of the mandate is the design, development and pre-validation of a 3D avatar that replicates in real-time the body movements of a person walking on a treadmill. Various parameters of the avatar’s kinematics will be modulated to reduce or exaggerate the asymmetry of walking by people with hemiparesis.
